This is a Special Issue first published in Pattern Recognition in Physics (PRP: Vol. 1 & 2, 2013-2014) where various aspects of the Planetary–Solar–Terrestrial interaction are highlighted in 12 independent papers. PRP was published by Copernicus Publications but was terminated without discussion when this Special Issue was published. For a long period, the papers were available at www.pattern-recognition-in-physics.net, but now they have disappeared. Since they contain important science, the SCC has decided on re-issuing of the original papers.
